7. What type of fishing licence is required on the Musquaro River?

Open / Close accordion

Answers :

  • You must obtain a sports fishing licence specific to the species of fish that you wish to catch. If you are fishing for Atlantic salmon, you must hold a salmon fishing licence. This licence is mandatory to fish salmon anywhere in Quebec, including in salmon rivers like the Musquaro during salmon fishing season.
  • You can buy a fishing licence online on the Government of Quebec’s website or at an authorized sales outlet. Licence prices vary according to the type of fishing, for example, an annual salmon fishing licence costs CAN$53.91 for residents and CAN$173.01 for non-residents.
  • You can also buy fishing licences on site at the outfitter.

8. What types of bait are permitted?

Open / Close accordion

Answer :

  • The baits authorized for fishing on the Musquaro River vary according to the target species and fishing zone. In general, when fishing for Atlantic salmon, only artificial baits such as flies, spoons and lures are permitted. Natural baits, such as worms, insects and other organic baits are often prohibited to protect fish populations and maintain the ecological balance.

9. Are there a lot of insects in Musquaro?

Open / Close accordion

Answers :

  • The Musquaro River region is renowned for its natural, wild beauty and rich biodiversity, which includes a healthy population of insects. Just like in many other natural areas near rivers and lakes in Quebec, you are likely to find mosquitoes, black flies, and other biting insects, especially in the warmer months of the year.
  • We suggest taking precautions against insects, such as using repellents and wearing long, light clothing. In doing so, you’ll be able to forget about the insects and make the most of your outdoor activities, like fishing!

10. Can I buy bait on site?

Open / Close accordion

Answer :

  • It can be difficult buying bait in Musquaro due to the region’s remoteness. We recommend bringing your own bait and fishing equipment to ensure you have everything you need. For a worry-free stay, it’s best to prepare in advance and contact the outfitter directly for any questions you may have about the supplies available on site.
